Marfa Report (Wally Scott)
Wally Scott's Marfa Report is a concise source of essential information for anyone planning to soar the skies around the Marfa plane in Southwest Texas. Wally published this document in 1972. In it he tells what to expect when flying the various areas around Marfa. The report includes a chart of the area showing areas that generally produce lift or sink, and areas where safe landing is not possible. |

IGCview (Ian Forster-Lewis) A web based application for viewing gliding GPS logs. Features that distinguish IGCview from similar applications are: - IGCview loads multiple logs, so you can compare them. This ability is designed particularly for comparing logs from gliders which have flown the same task on the same day, e.g. competition logs. - IGCview is written in Java, running in your web browser. Thus, IGCview runs on any computer. |
IGCview |

SoaringPilot Freeware soaring software for PalmOS 3.0+ PDA's. Helps the soaring pilot make informed speed and distance decisions. With an attached GPS, and using the logger function, the pilot can online and plot the flight track information for analysis. Uses the McCready theory to calculate speed-to-fly and altitude required to a goal assuming a specified head/tailwind and airmass movement. Without a GPS, the distance to fly is entered manually. With a GPS, Soaring Pilot accepts GPS data from the PalmPilot's serial port in NMEA-0183 version 1.5 or 2.0+ (auto-select) format. SoaringPilot uses proprietary sentences from the Volkslogger, Colibri, Cambridge 302 and Garmin (select models) for pressure altitude data. When connected to a Borgelt B50, all additional information from the B50 is used to enhance the accuracy of many of the calculated values. |

Winscore (Guy Byars) Winscore is a Windows based scoring program for soaring contests in the US. The Winscore system consists of two programs, the scoring program, and the contest viewer. - The scoring program is used at soaring contests to calculate contestant speeds, distances, scores, and to generate score sheets. The scoring program also can generate a Winscore Flight File (WWF) which contains the GPS flight traces and scoring information for each contestant. These WWFs can then be put on a web page where Internet users can view a replay of the contestant's flights for that day. - The contest viewing program is used by Internet users to view the Winscore Flight Files. When the WFF is placed on a web page and your browser is correctly configured, then clicking on the flight file link will automatically open the viewer and immediately show a replay of the flights for that contest day. - The scoring program and the viewer can be onlineed free of charge from this web site. Winscore viewer users who wish to view the flight traces overlayed on sectional maps must pay a registration fee. |
