1998: Starting Grid

Each year on or about July 4, Memphis Soaring holds a Fun Fly competition.
This is a weekend event including one practice day and two days of racing.
It's an informal affair that loosely follows the SSA Sports Class rules.
Typically, about one dozen gliders compete.
These events were previously held at Edwards Soaring, north of Little Rock.
But, in 1998, Joe could no longer host the events, so Memphis Soaring
continued the practice.
Winners receive plaques to commemorate his accomplishments.
